Chutney in Winchester

I spent all day Sunday learning to make chutneys with Hazel, a work colleague who runs her own jam and chutney business on the side.  We came down a day early to save the commute, and spent the evening drinking champagne and eating vension in front of her roaring fire, before settling in the next morning to learn the ins and outs of savoury preserves.  A trip to the farmer’s market, and 5 hours later we each had a bottle of spicy apple chutney and cucumber pickle under our arms as we bid farewell to beautiful hampshire and made our way back to the city.

Sometimes I miss being a country bumpkin.
